Music by Dixon's Violin, Red's Garden, Kyle Greer, Nate Marsh, Searchl1te, Edamame, and Arun Bhalla
Dixon's Violin
Dixon's Violin has been the backdrop for so many of of our important moments. We listened to Dixon on the night we first said, "I Love You". We were so happy to have him perform on this special night!
We were surprised and delighted to learn that Dixon recorded his set and gave us permission to share the recording with all of you!
I want to share a gift with you :) I recorded my performance there at the reception, and I have mastered it.It's a high-quality mp3 file. I'm giving the link to you, and if you want to share with friends/family/attendees, or heck, the whole world, feel free - or keep it for yourself, totally up to you :)
You can find more of Dixon's music and follow his tour schedule at dixonsviolin.com and on his Facebook page.
Red's Garden
Our dear friend, neighbor, and wedding party member, Red, closed out the night with her unique blend of electronica and acoustic guitar. We couldn't have had a more perfect finale to our evening.
Red also contributed two ink on canvas art pieces which could be seen hanging in the tent.
Red shares her music and visual art at redsgarden.net and on her Facebook page.
Kyle Greer
Kyle, a former housemate of Zach's, arranged and performed the music for our ceremony. We gave him some really vague ideas and he totally nailed it on song selections!
Kyle performs and teaches in Chicago and you can learn more about his projects at kylegreerrocks.com and on Facebook.
Nate Marsh
Nate played at the entrance to the wedding site before the ceremony. Zach discovered him busking at Beans and Bagels in Ravenswood and thought his high energy one-man-band vibe would be absolutely perfect for welcoming our guests. And it was!
You can find Nate on Reverb Nation and Facebook.
Searchl1te
Maggie met Ryan and his later-to-be-wife Chelsea at the Burners Without Borders camp at Burning Man in 2009. Their wedding was outrageously fun, and helped plant some of the seeds of our collective vision of what was possible in planning our wedding. Maggie and Zach have danced to Ryan's infectious beats at numerous parties and we were very excited to have Ryan get get the late crowd smiling and moving on our wedding night!
You can follow Searchl1te on SoundCloud, Facebook, and Twitter.
Edamame
Maggie has had the pleasure of getting to know Ed and his uniquely beautiful music at numerous events around Chicago. His lush, nature-inspired compositions helped keep our party grooving joyously into the wee hours!
You can find Edamame tracks on SoundCloud and Bandcamp and you can follow him on Facebook.
Arun Bhalla
In the late 90s and early 2000s, Zach and Arun co-hosted a radio show and have worked together to DJ a few weddings and parties. Zach DJ'ed Arun's wedding many years ago. Zach and Arun have a long history of sharing music - Arun's punk band practiced in the basement of the house where they both lived in the early 2000s and Arun has played music with Zach's family members on numerous occasions. It was absolutely perfect that after dinner, Arun kicked the party off right with a mix of familiar songs. At one point he played a song that Maggie was sure was just for her (coincidence or DJ psychic powers?) and Zach appreciated hearing many of his most beloved songs!
You can listen to Arun's band The Outta Sorts on SoundCloud and follow them on Facebook.
